Things are settling in nicely here in the new IT Department. The extra work load created by the gaming centre is slowly diminishing, and it’s time to get back to organizing after the head office move. This is a fairly large task as it’s not only the physical aspects to be dealt with, organizing cables, equipment, spare parts etc., but also the updating of the majority of the configuration documentation as a result of the move, and the relocation and reconfiguration of a large majority of the equipment.
We have resolved most of the quirks in the audio/video systems in the Gaming Centre and have also received approval for the addition of a paging system with microphones at the bar and cash cage and an upgraded control panel that will allow for the changing of channels on the 4 Shaw digital boxes from the bar. The issues we were having with the Bingo projectors and plasma screens have also been resolved and everything has been running smoothly in that department for over a week now. Thanks to everyone, staff and patrons, for your patience while we worked out the kinks. The toughest problem, the centre area plasma’s losing a color intermittently turned out to be a bad cable. We were very lucky that it acted up the day the Pacific Audio people were here to finish up some things, and they located and replaced the defective cable.
The phone lines at Coulson Aircrane are being tranfered to the Head Office PRI Oct 12 so as I am writing this I have one week to have all the new IP phones installed and all users, mailboxes and the auto attendant configured on the BCM. The people at Aircrane are looking forward to being on our phone system, having their own direct lines, and having everyone at head office just an extension away. Once Aircrane is completed I will be scheduling putting the mill on as well. Well I think I’m done for this issue and promise to stop rambling and come up with some good computer hints for the next one. I have received quite a few compliments on them and am very pleased that people enjoy them. Hope you had a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
