By John Kuch, Production ManagerMill Report

Coulson Manufacturing is back on full production with Millworks starting back up. Coulson Specialties is going back to 2 shifts and the sawmill is cutting cants on the weekend.

With the end of the strike, Western Forest Products has asked for about 20 shifts per month of processing at CSL. This means we have had to hire new people to get back on 2 shifts.

Welcome to the new employees and please remember that
SAFETY IS OUR # 1 PRIORITY!

Don't be afraid to ask for help and if you are unsure of something, please ask your supervisor.

CML is currently cutting cedar after 2 weeks of custom cut for Vanport, Trapa and Western Forest Products. The custom cuts went well in the mill but overwhelmed our packager.

The cedar cut is going well with "Just on Time" delivery of logs by Coulson Forest Products. Gary Collinge and his crews have been working hard to keep the mill in the logs we need.

So far our markets have absorbed the recent increases in the Canadian Dollar. Our dollar has appreciated 25% in one year. This has put pressure on commodity lumber products with a number of sawmills curtaining or closing. Our shop and better products are still in demand and have so far been able to weather the currency increases.

Congratulations to the Mars Water Bombers and the crews for their success in California. Itfs great seeing our Company in the news in such a positive light.

Until next month, please work safe and play safe.
